Wendy Brill-Wynkoop is a faculty leader dedicated to advocating for the California Community Colleges. Inspired by the Girl Scout motto, “Make this world a better place,” she leads her students and colleagues by example to expand and improve educational opportunities for all students in the California Community Colleges through developing new opportunities, learning modalities, and curriculum in career education, distance education, and noncredit. She honed her skills as an adjunct professor teaching art and graphic design at the UC Irvine, Pepperdine University, CSU Dominguez Hills, and CSU Fullerton. Initially, it was Chaffey College that made her fall in love with community colleges and focused her energy there. As a professor at College of the Canyons for the past 21 years, she works to affect change for students and the next generation. A dedicated faculty advocate, Wendy has served on the local Academic Senate, chaired vital committees, like the Noncredit Committee and Academic Staffing Committee, and represented faculty on numerous college-wide committees. On the statewide level, she is serving as chair of the Legislation & Advocacy Committee of Faculty Association for California Community Colleges and the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges Non-Credit Committee. She is a graduate of the Community College Association of California Leaders Academy and the NEA Emerging Leaders Academy. A southern California native whose love of camping and coffee are well known, is always on the go. She loves being outside experiencing the world around her; she has taught numerous field studies courses and participates in camping trips with her family and friends whenever she can. She is devoted to her family as she and her husband raise their own two California girls, who are both artists, musicians, and intellectuals, and developing into fierce women in their own right. Surviving their teenage years may be Wendy’s most significant feat yet.
