About Weng-Ching Cheung
Having been somewhat of an idealist as a child where I wished that everyone could be equally happy and healthy, I decided to take that dream closer to reality by pursuing a career in public policy. My background is primarily in advocacy, organizing, and education, but I'd like to improve people's lives from a structural standpoint. In particular, sustainability, urban ecology, and transportation policy excite me; I believe environmentalism within urban habitats has the power to alter socioeconomic mobility, racial inequities, economic progress, physical health, emotional health, and general well-being.I consider myself a people person, putting 100% into my relationships with coworkers, clients, and friends. I thrive in situations and environments that allow for a lot of human interaction and are dynamic and fast-paced. I pride myself in my adaptability, cultural competency, and communication, having worked abroad and also with diverse people within the US. I am currently pursuing a Master in Public Administration with the Evans School of Public Policy at the University of Washington. My coursework thus far has included quantitative skills such as financial analysis, budgeting, microeconomics, and policy management. Currently, I am seeking full-time employment after I graduate in June 2020. When not studying or job-seeking, I enjoy practicing taekwondo and looking for the next hip foodie place in Seattle to grab a meal.
