Mr. Wensheng Fan is an executive, entrepreneur, and innovator with over 20 years of leadership experience in bringing ambitious, high-tech product ideas to life, including natural speech recognition, real-time imaging systems for self-driving cars, and FDA Breakthrough designated medical devices leveraging AI technologies. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Fan has led Spectral MD to acquire over $250M in US federal government contracts from HHS/BARDA, NSF, NIH, DoD/DHA, and DoD/MTEC to fund the development and commercialization for DeepView®. He has also raised $39M in commercial funding to support large scale clinical applications in the DFU and chronic wound markets. In 2021, Mr. Fan took Spectral MD to IPO on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: SMD) with an oversubscribed round. In 2023, Mr. Fan led the transition to a NASDAQ Global Market listing (Spectral AI, NASDAQ: MDAI).As a Co-Founder and the first employee of Spectral MD, Mr. Fan built and led the team to bring DeepView® - a predictive diagnostic technology leveraging multispectral imaging and AI algorithms - from concept to an FDA Breakthrough designated medical device. DeepView® will address a combined $14.6B wound care market and is now under a Project BioShield contract with the US federal government (HHS/BARDA), moving towards commercial deployment as a US Mass Casualty Countermeasure. Mr. Fan has led Spectral MD’s efforts to develop DeepView® in diagnosing the healing potentials of Burn Wounds, Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU), Pressure Ulcers and other acute and chronic wound conditions to reduce patients’ pain and suffering, better guide the clinical treatment pathways, as well as provide systemwide cost savings to payers, physicians, and hospitals.Before Spectral MD, Mr. Fan played pivotal roles in start-ups and large, international companies, including imaging technologies for self-driving cars at Sensata Technologies; broadband wireless communications at Navini Networks (acquired by Cisco); and an early core member of PureSpeech Inc, a Boston based natural speech recognition technology company that was later acquired by Phillips Speech Processing. Mr. Fan received his MSEE degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and BSEE degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
