I have been in construction since leaving school. did my training in the Perway Department of the SAR & H and was involved in a number of rail construction projects and general maintenance for 5 years. Joined Murray & Robert RE in 1978 for the construction of a rail link in Botswana (Selebi Pikwe), moved on to roads & Earthworks with the construction of the new runways in Selebi Pikwe, the new Orapa Airport and upgrading of Gaberone Runways etc. I was offered a Site Agent position with Bryan Westcott Construction and worked with Bryan for twenty years. In 1997 I was offered a shareholding and was made a Director. In 2007 when I left Bryan Westcott, by which time the name had changed to Bophelong Construction. I left looking for a new challenge and started up on my own (Weko Civils) in June 2007. Initially it went well but with the poor economic situation in 2009 and some bad contracts and non payments in 2011, Weko was forced to close down.Currently working for Superway Construction. Joined in June 2012 as Contract Manager and completed a 2 year As & When project (Ekurhuleni Metro) to the value of 172 million in Feb 2014. Since then I've been promoted to Division Manager. My duties are to look after and manage all the roads / earthworks etc contracts as well as tendering for new work.
