My expertise is in semiconductor technology, materials, devices, and their applications. I have a proven track record of contributions in the photonics industry. For more than 20 years, I have been in leadership positions at cutting edge companies and institutions focused on materials characterization, epitaxy technology, and Light Emitting Diode (LED) product development.My strength is in recruiting top talent, building and leading teams across the globe, planning and managing multi-faceted programs, and transferring R&D results to high-volume manufacturing. I successfully attracted repeat government funding and was responsible for the execution of such programs in collaboration with industrial and academic partners. I have managed tens of millions of dollars annual R&D budgets enabling significant return on investment for the business.I have been fortunate to have worked at Stanford University, Xerox PARC, Hewlett-Packard Company, Lumileds, and Philips Lighting and have made major contributions to the development of the GaN materials system and visible LEDs from their infancy to dominance in lighting applications. I have published extensively in the technical literature, presented at relevant conferences and tradeshows, and have 30+ patents in solid state lighting technology, products, and applications.
