Since coming to the US in 1988, I have split my time and my efforts between the non-profit world (mainly Youth With a Mission) and as an entrepreneur / business owner in the for-profit world. The last "job" I held dates back to 1993, ever since then I have operated as an "independent contractor". This has been stressful and challenging at times, especially when providing for a family of 5, but it provided maximum learning as I constantly had to reinvent myself. My mission statement is "Werner, the Learner" and by the grace of God, the desire to learn and grow has been about the only constant thing in the past 34 years in my life. I am fully bilingual in German and English and have a basic understanding of French and Spanish. I am also a dual citizen of Germany / EU and the USA. Having grown up in Germany in a Lutheran family, I finished an apprenticeship as an electrician in 1982. After mandatory military service as a tank driver, I worked for two German sawmill machinery companies as a travelling electrician / troubleshooter from 1985-1988. I spent a lot of time working outside of Germany which exposed me to other cultures and languages. Highlights were a six week assignment in 1986 in the Transkei, South Africa and a two week assignment in former East Germany in 1987 during Soviet occupation. To be continued
