Working for 3M I have managed the Supply Chain and Manufacturing functions since 2009. I have worked in a FMCG environment and other market segments with exposure to South Africa, Middle East and African markets. This role included the managing of the supply chain and manufacturing functions for South Africa and MEA respectively; setting up supply chains/warehousing capabilities within Nigeria and Kenya to ensure product availability in countries without manufacturing capability. Functions reporting to me during the last 5 years at 3M include: Customer service – customer interface and order taking process, Logistics and Exports, Demand planning – Sales and Operational planning, Manufacturing, Outsource manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Engineering and maintenance, Process engineering and Lean Six Sigma.

Started my career at Bosal as their LBS/Supply Chain manager at one of the manufacturing facilities. This function included all planning, sourcing, procurement and inventory management functions for the organisation.The function later developed into the manufacturing Director role where this role then included all manufacturing and supply chain responsibilities. This included manufacturing responsibility for Plant 1 operations - Exhaust manufacturing for the aftermarket and OEM markets. Plant 3 - Jack operations was added to the role after Bosal got the global jack manufacturing contract with GM in the USA. The Logistics, Buying and scheduling function included all supply chain related operatiosn for these plants at Bosal.

• Functions included: Inventory management/Customs and excise, supply/demand planning and raw materials/production planning.• Network and liase with all stakeholders in the Supply Chain (Production, Logistics, Business/marketing managers, Overseas regional sales offices and various internal and external service providers) with regards to supply and demand requirements.• Production planning for local and export chemical drummed products.• Provide sufficient information to Business/marketing managers for effective product allocation and business strategy formulation.• Inventory management and controlling at production sites, storage locations and export port locations. • Responsible for reporting and optimisation of working capital worldwide – safety and target stock levels.• Responsible for TCO (Total cost of ownership) with regards to storage cost optimisation. – Netgain.• Optimisation of tank turns at storage facilities – reducing WIP and finish goods inventory.

This included business process analysis before any process improvements or system developments were made to current or new business developments.
