I hold a B.Eng - Chemical Engineering degree, which was obtained from the University of the North-West, Potchefstroom Campus in 2005. My experience has been split into three main areas over the past nine years. Two years (2005-2007) in the engineering design field for the design company, AVEC - Added Value Engineering Consultants, performing consulting work for the Petrochemical and Mining sectors - my exposure was in formulating conceptual, basic and extended basic engineering packages for clients.Following this, I was employed as a production engineer at the Gas Treatment plant of the Coke Making Section, ArcelorMittal Newcastle for the period 2008 till mid 2011. My focus and responsibilities were to supply plant support through project and contractor management of capital and refurbishment projects, improvement of plant performance through root cause analysis studies and process modifications. Further requirements of the position was to implement the Fatality Prevention Standards protocol for Confined spaces and Gas Hazardous Areas for the Gas Treatment plant. Currently, I am the Production Manager for the Gas Treatment Plant and Primary Products Laboratory. I am tasked with implementation of the strategic objectives of the Gas Treatment Plant, to ensure governing and compliance systems are upheld and managing personnel, equipment and project requirements for the two respective sections. I am a DIY enthusiast and enjoy creating or refurbishing metal, wood or combination furniture creations.
