Working on the current West Gate Tunnel Project (WGTP) in Melbourne, part of Victoria's’ Big Build that will upgrade the West Gate Freeway and link to CityLink at Docklands via a tunnel beneath Yarraville.Employed through the VectaGroup, I have been engaged to provide skills and experience for the installation of steelwork associated with the electrical, instrumentation, signalling and HVAC services of the tunnel sections of the Project.

Downer Rail EDI Melbourne Metro High Capacity Metro Trains, Pakenham East, Victoria.Role: Supervisor/Team Lead Mechanical FittersResponsibilities:- Supervise mechanical fitters in post-production, rectification, and heavy modification, including ballast underframe upgrades on High-Capacity Metro Trains at Pakenham East Depot.- Managed and supervised project planning and development.- Safe operation of overhead gantry crane, forklift, and Zephir Crab 5000 E train set.- Held permits for working at heights, train isolation, and PTW.- Installed HCMT brake pipe components and performed windscreen changeovers.- Replaced pneumatic components, including sanding modules, airbag suspension pipes, valves, trip cock upgrades, and stainless pipework line upgrades.- Installed internal saloon components such as sidewalls, end walls, ceiling panels, seats, lighting, air ducts, handrails, and emergency ramp lockers- Led shunting operations for HCMT rolling stock in and out of TMF/ITF building facilities.- Developed SWMS, JSEA, working at heights, and hot works permits in collaboration with Facilities Work Authority, Health and Safety representatives, and Zero Harm managers.- Prepared compliant permits according to Victorian and Australian standards, ensuring all personnel adhered to correct procedures.- Certified Operation of the Vector "Above Floor Lifting System" (ALS)- Familiarized with HCMT subsystems, including pneumatic braking and saloon/cab HVAC installations.- Adapted quickly and built a skilled team through active engagement in pre-start meetings, regular updates, and effective communication to improve project deadlines.Summary: As a committed Supervisor of Mechanical Fitters, I effectively led my team in various mechanical tasks and ensured compliance with safety standards, demonstrating strong leadership, technical expertise, and efficient project management to meet company goals.
