My duties as a field Landman were to negotiate oil and gas mineral leases with current mineral owners pertaining to tracts of land ranging from 40 acres to 3,000 acres. Maintaining a consistant line of communication with the mineral owner was vital, as our area of interest was highly competitve. Integrity, fairness and facts were the keys to success and played a large part in my negotiating skills. Educating owners by providing them with enough information about the industry and our clients goals/intentions became a helpful tool for owners to make a decision and accept our offer.
