About Early Careers Board Womens Engineering Society

The WES ECB (Early Careers Board) consists of twelve WES Members who are working, training or studying in an engineering field and consider themselves to be early in their career. The board was originally formed in June 2016 as the WES Young Members' Board and changed its name in February 2020. All members of WES ECB are passionate about engaging the community with all things engineering, and are excited to continue to share industry insights, career ideas, and support existing engineers in the field through our social media, competitions, newsletter articles and events.What is the aim of the Early Careers Board?Overall, the aim of the ECB is to enable access to the latest resources, support and campaigns from WES and share this with the broader community through our volunteer work. The Members making up the ECB also aspire to be role models for young women considering a career within the science and engineering industry. What are Early Careers Board campaigns and projects?WES ECB have been involved with so many projects! Since the WES ECB was formed, it has been both a partner and inventor of many projects including the annual WES Lottie Tour, WES 100 Violets Challenge, Draw an Engineer, Essay Competition, and ‘Engineering a Better World’ posters. Not only this but across WES ECB social media platforms the volunteers have carried out STEM challenges on Youtube, captured engineering career profiles, and run regular social media campaigns. To add, WES ECB are regular supporters of the WES Student Conference too. The WES ECB outreach to support new and existing engineers within industry continues to grow, and this is an exciting time for the board.
