About Wes Freeman
Playing football probably shouldn’t top a person’s list of reasons to attend the United States Naval Academy, especially since it affects the next nine years of his/her life (four years at school followed by a five-year service obligation); however, that’s exactly what I decided to do. That logic became clear at the conclusion of my first football season, when the head coach and his staff were fired. The new coach changed the offense and I was no longer a “good fit” in the new scheme at the position I was recruited to play.Needless to say, my Division I FBS college football dreams didn’t turn out like I had imagined, but I learned the importance of perseverance…both on the field and in the classroom. I learned that something worth doing, is worth doing right. I actually learned that from my father, but it was reinforced during my years at the Naval Academy.I learned to never give up, to live purposefully and never sacrifice principles or integrity for quick gains. I’ve applied these values in both my personal and professional life and am proud of the path that’s taken me to where I am today.• A high achiever with great team building skills• A good listener• Resilient and adaptable• Not interested in titles or who gets credit for accomplishments
