WILLIAM WESLEY FIELDS MD FACEP is a graduate of the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara, the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, and residency training in emergency medicine at Harbor/UCLA. After many years on the clinical faculty at UC Irvine, he joined the core faculty of the EM residency program at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in 2013. As past chairman of the board of Vituity, the nation’s largest acute care partnership, he has a broad view of ambulatory care and hospital services in diverse settings. Dr. Fields has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles, editorials, and book chapters on population health, practice management, and strategic planning. He has served in a variety of leadership positions in organized medicine, was the founding chair of the California EM Advocacy Fund, and more recently the national EM Action Fund for regulatory and legal issues. He was recently reappointed to the standing committee on hospital readmission measures for the National Quality Forum, and is a senior advisor to the EMF Health Policy Scholar program. Dr. Fields recently retired from clinical practice after 34 years. As William Wesley, he is the author of the medico-legal novel, ‘Ghost Dancing.’
