Every business has an ideal customer, but how do they find and connect with these customers? Marketing! Well, I really hope that the answer is marketing, because if it isn’t, then I just wasted the last six years in college.I’m a marketer with an interest in building your brand that focuses on creating and leveraging meaningful relationships with its customers. For the last 7 years I’ve been an important part of my father’s communications business, during which I’ve had the opportunity to wear many hats: admin, delivery driver, finance, inventory, logistics, project management, operations and service (as a technician). Finally, I found marketing, and for the last 3 years I have been a key piece in the complete ground up rebuild of our marketing department. Throughout this rebuild process we have:(1) Completely rebranded the company(2) Transformed our website to better fit the future goals of the company(3) Created a new industry event to feature our various product lines(4) Implemented a marketing automation platform(5) Rebuilt our data capture and reporting to gain insight into our business operationsThe Marketer in Me:Today I find myself hungry consumer of all things marketing, from the main course (strategy and brand building) to the delicious mashed potatoes (creative and automation), and even the greens that we don’t always like, but need to survive (DATA). Over the last 3 years I have realized that I have a genuine interest in everything that goes into building and running a dynamic marketing department, and continuing to learn and develop myself is a key to achieving that goal (I don’t want to fall behind just as my career is starting!). I’ve learned, through many successes and failures, that although the shiny new toy is great and interesting, all strategy needs to built around what the data is showing us.
