Restore antique chandeliers and sconces using common hand tools, as well as metal work including structural soldering, drilling, painting, and refinishing. Repair work also includes wiring pre-electric lights, as well as rewiring candelabra and Edison style sockets, running French style wiring on solid frame chandeliers and sconces. Provided freelance photojournalism work for the international Demotix newswire service. Work has involved photographing in precarious situations, traveling to provide photographs for a story, and documenting multiple natural disasters, as well as local public interest events.Accomplishments: Work was frequently picked up by Corbis Images and has been featured in multiple digital and print publications including The Guardian, Discovery.com, and the Oxford University Press (NY).

Taught five classes in various photography and journalism topics. Classes range from Kindergarten to Adult level and feature visual story telling through documentary processes and photojournalism. Programs taught were Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, iMovie, Wordpress Blogging site, as well as traditional dark room developing and printing techniques.

Worked directly with the Director of The Office of Public Affairs in a fast-paced atmosphere with tight deadlines on a wide range of projects. Provided studio and documentary style photography, data base updating, article writing and editing, press release writing and reviewing, social media coordination, and general office-based tasks as required. Accomplishments: Designed, coordinated, and executed a pilot program in conjunction with the University of Alaska Office of Risk Services using iPads as emergency coordination and response devices across multiple campuses. Pilot program was successful and is now being implemented statewide. Started the Office of Public Affairs Facebook page and created a two-way environment that provided information to the community and collected feedback on new programs and initiatives. Designed and collaborated on a new ad campaign aimed at encouraging students to finish their degrees within 4 years. Campaign was successful and implemented statewide.

Led a platoon of 30 soldiers in training, execution of missions, and activities in blue and grey sky conditions. Executed administrative and training duties for the unit including discipline issues, promotions, and awards. Accomplishments: Awarded the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service during annual training exercises. Prepared platoon for a successful deployment to Kuwait. Maintained proficiency in numerous weapons and tactical training.
