I was hired as a Field Engineer which quickly turned into a Project Manager for CTDOT project No. 0126-0174: Derby-Shelton Bridge Pedestrian & Bicyclist Improvements. Acting as the Project Manager, Field Engineer, and Foreman simultaneously, I am excellent with project management skills, productivity, coordination, allocating recourses properly, and producing a clean finished product. Although this project is ongoing, I am confident it will be delivered on time, seen as a work of art, and a refreshed bridge bringing new opportunities between two vibrant communities. I am a detailed oriented Civil Engineer who has a experience within the construction inspection field. I use project management skills to produce quality project record keeping through detailed daily reports, reference of project plans and specifications to ensure work completed is correct, measurement of completed work in the field, provide effective communication from the client to management, and provide quality assurance testing through CTDOT approved methods. As a Materials Testing Technician, I performed a series of tests and observations for various construction materials. Such tests for concrete include slump tests, air content tests, temperature readings, and 4" x 8" & 6" x 12" cylinder casting. The placement of concrete is observed and ensured that contractor is following project plans and specifications. Soil/Earthwork, and Asphalt compaction is another key field test I performed frequently. I used a portable Nuclear Density/Moisture gauge by inputting a materials maximum dry from a proctor test, and measured a percentage of the materials density at varying depths. Sub-grade strength and density of any construction material is imperative to have its specified strength achieved, in order to ensure it will be able to withstand the proposed loads it will be subjected to. In addition, I have adequate Geotechincal Engineering experience. Some exposure I received included performing the field work for generating a Boring Log. This was done by collecting soil samples at varying depths and recording the elevation ground water was encountered at. Soil gradation and Soil proctor testing were both common laboratory tasks and were performed frequently. The logging of concrete cylinders in curing room, and removing for compression strength testing at appropriate dates was also a common task.
