I am a software engineer with 4+ years of experience. I am an avid learner and learn on my free time. I am leaning more towards the full stack engineering route. I possess a strong front-end background and I am slowly gaining more comfortability with the backend, specifically with databases, writing schema and connecting to the front end. I am language agnostic, but the programming languages I use the most is JavaScript and ReactJS Framework– but lately the React framework of NextJS have been my go-to for current projects. I am not bound to a particular language or framework, and with time I can adapt easily to new environments and communicate efficiently with my team and others. I come from a non-traditional background and started my career in tech the Fall of 2017 at a boot camp. Prior to that I studied genetics / zoology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. After the boot camp, for a short time I gained interest in UX/UI design including wireframes, accessibility but ultimately choose to go the full stack route. However, in every personal project I do, I always wireframe out my thought process and technology used as a roadmap when I am coding it out. I found that I come up with new iterations or ideas I had not thought of if I had not done this exploratory work.Having at least four years of experience under my belt, I have worked at very small companies to mid and large companies, and that I held both contract and full-time roles in my career, but I prefer FTE roles. This allowed me to experience what the world of tech has to offer and what I would like to specialize in. I enjoy the product side and shipping out features as oppose to systems and infrastructure. I take a very hands-on approach with the codebases or jobs tasks I am on and I tend to go out of my comfort zone to learn as much as I can not just from the code – but from others as well.
