Senior Research Operations Manager
CurrentAs Research Operations Manager, its my job to empower my colleagues' decision-making by connecting them with the user. That can take many forms:-Recruiting users for various feedback opportunities from UX Research, surveys, usability tests, to informal chats with Product Managers, customer showcases, and more.-Managing an internal database of customers, their participation history, & other characteristics.-Designing & running a program of regularly-scheduled customer calls based on particular aspects of the product they're interested in providing feedback for, providing several different teams with opportunities to get customer feedback.-Creating a program to select certain users of our product to showcase their work, teams, output, and message via "Fireside Chats" for internal audiences.
Research Operations Coordinator
My job is to ensure the Red Hat UXD Research team delivers on the value that it promises; excellent, insightful, and timely user research. In this role, I manage many responsibilities that support our researchers and free up their time to do what they do best: effectively complete research that impacts Red Hat products. Some of these responsibilities include:Participant recruiting - managing various sources for recruiting, finding new potential sources (internal & external), working with stakeholders to understand recruiting requirements, and handling communications (including compensation) with participants.Participant database management - keeping our list of participants current and secure, and presenting it in a way that's useful for researchers, containing useful information about the participants.Research efforts for events/conferences - I coordinate our UX efforts for Red Hat Summit each year. This work ranges from coordinating content that will be showcased, ensuring research opportunities are featured to facilitate participation, and making sure everything is ready to go for launch. On the back end, I feed all new participant data into our database, help synthesize the data collected, and track lessons learned.I also continue to conduct research across products and work to improve our research practice and processes.

Human Factors Engineer
PC & Smart Devices Hardware UX DesignMy focus was to aid in the design of ThinkPad hardware including laptops, tablets, hybrid PCs, keyboards, and other input devices. The team works using Human Factors and Ergonomics principles to make design recommendations that facilitate improved user experience for the products. Working alongside software UX designers and industrial designers, the team strives to deliver an optimized user experience. The goal: to design the best products for customers.Using my HF background and training as a user researcher, my team and I gathered data in many forms (interviews, usability testing, observation, focus groups, to name a few). This data drove decisions made in our designs. We championed the voice of the customer in everything we did.My product-focused work was on ThinkPad tablet & detachable devices, notebooks, and accessories. I also worked on various input devices, security components, and some software applications. I provided UX specifications, recommendations, and developed the UX vision for these products.
