Originally from Sydney Australia and currently based in Chicago Illinois, Wes is video professional with a career spanning 25 years.His expertise lies within camera operation across a broad range of disciplines. Whether it be single camera ENG or a multi-cam broadcast, Wes has worked at an international level as a DP and camera operator on network reality television, news, sports, documentaries, shorts, independent features, music festivals, corporate events, commercials, brand activations and branded content.He has facilitated extensive live hits for news and virtual events and can confidently direct talent. The emergence of drone technology has allowed Wes to branch into this field also. He's an experienced pilot and able to fly UAVs commercially to capture stunning aerials. Most recently, Wes has been leading and directing virtual events and livestreams that utilize multiple cameras and play-out sources. He owns and operates a Blackmagic-based switcher and broadcast system.Starting with a keen interest in the craft at the age of 14 as a volunteer cameraman at a Sydney megachurch, Wes has logged thousands of hours behind the camera. He is exceptional at collaborating with others on a multi-camera shoot to create beautiful shots on-the-fly, or on his own to shoot & deliver what the content brief calls for. After completion of a Communications degree in 2001, Wes cut his teeth at Australia's Nine Network where he received valuable experience within a live broadcast environment before going freelance. He is competent with a wide range of camera and broadcast equipment, but his skill-set does not lie solely within the camera dept. Extensive knowledge of lighting for video has allowed him to progress his skill set to Director of Photography; a level at which he has obtained a number of credits at.As a skilled editor and technical director, he knows the ropes when it comes to coordinating and executing live hits, routing video signals, switching live events, micing talent and monitoring the shot.
