Diagnose and resolve issues related to devices or services provided by the company. Research and Development on Terminal Devices, Debugging existing program code to resolve ongoing issues, debug and update existing code for improved functionality. Projects Completed:Development of new HP 5730 Thin Client Terminal to work with ECI Advantage software. Developed using a version of Debian Linux to incorporate slaved printers, scanners, cash drawers, and serial signature pads. Designed an easy to navigate text based setup system for configuring the terminal to run Character, Graphical ECI Advantage Legacy software and ECI Advantage java based software.Improve communication to Ethernet based Ingenico i6770 and i6780 signature pads. Initially an issue existed that caused the signature pads to "lock up" or stop communicating erratically. Found a "bug" in java causing an issue creating sockets on systems with both IP version 4 (IPv4) and IP version 6 (IPv6) running on the network interface. Resolved this by forcing java to utilize IPv4. Created a new utility to increase perceived communication speed between the server applications and the ingenico signature pads. This was achieved by creating and modifying existing bash scripts and programs written in the Advantage Legacy proprietary programming language. Improve Functionality and add features to ECI Advantage's Adwin program. Adwin is written in Visual C++, worked through the program code to add the ability to resize (removed in an earlier version) and make other features optional. Added a utility to automatically remove screen locks created by the program and to make configuration easier.Created a windows service to start a jboss server for ECi Advantage's Java based software.Helped with functional code and some design of a GUI based Java installer for new ECI Advantage software. Single installer works for All OS Environments tested (Linux, Windows, and MacOSx).
