As the Division Health & Safety Manager, I am responsible for the growth and development of the Safety Culture within my Division. Another responsibility of this position is ensuring compliance with the many laws and standards governing the industries we work in, our client's standards and expectations, and the company Standard Operating Procedures. With one of the many services that the company provides being Hazardous Chemical release response and remediation, HAZWOPER and DOT HAZMAT laws, practices and procedures are an everyday engagement of my role. A few additional responsibilities of the position include the oversight and evaluation of Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Hazardous Chemical transfer, Civil Construction activities, and Industrial Fire Fighting. With the many Health and Safety aspects of this position, it is a very busy but fulfilling role that causes me to lean on my years within the business to both ensure compliance and successfully promote growth within the Company.

One of my many responsibilities includes providing solutions to all our client’s safety needs as they arise from a simple training alignment to designing and implementing the Client’s safety program and beyond. I am additionally responsible for acquiring and negotiating contracts in a manner that is beneficial to all parties involved.

As a QC Supervisor responsible for the quarantine and testing requirements for Shell E&P Offshore workers, I oversee the planning, scheduling and quarantine expectations of a secure site located in Kenner, Louisiana. Our Team manages all medical aspects of the quarantine and testing process for up to a 5-day period for each of Shell’s employees and Contractors preparing to travel to work at any of the Offshore facilities within the fleet. These duties also include managing the high-risk of exposure workers such as the international travelers and those potentially exposed to COVID-19 while on their days away from work. This management assignment also includes the safe handling of sensitive information, communicating and coordinating with the assigned labs and company leadership, as well as the management of al non-negative tested workers.

As a Project Manager in charge of a COVID-19 Vaccination site for the Jefferson County Department of Health, I am responsible for all aspects of the site. These responsibilities include planning, scheduling, organizing and building a successful Team of individuals that have provided over 2,300 vaccines and counting to the citizens of Jefferson County Colorado. The Project Manager is responsible for having the foresight to adjust to the needs of the public. Several examples of this would be identifying that an earlier clinic start time was needed to meet the demand of the public, communicating with the Health Department Leadership regarding outreach opportunities within the community that drastically increased the number of patients seeking a vaccine during the assignment and developing a staffing model that created no additional overtime while adjusting to the needs of the Health Department. The position also involves the responsibility of acquiring and transporting vaccines to and from the clinic plus creating, organizing and closing clinics in the clinic management program, PrepMod. Another of the many responsibilities of the Project manager is to identify compliance challenges of both the location of the site and the Team. This responsibility presented the need to draft and implement local policies and procedures such as an Orientation & Onboarding Process for Employees, a Procedure for Managing Multiple Vaccinations at a single location, a Competency & Development Program, a Vaccine Reconciliation Plan and tracking system, a controlled employee paperwork filing system, setting up a site calendar of events and schedules plus cresting a shared drive location to store master copies of site paperwork. This Team has, safely, successfully and consistently provided vaccines to a greater number of the public than any other Team within the tri-county area in Colorado.

While performing the role of Logistics Specialist on COVID-19 Testing & Vaccination sites on behalf of the Houston Health Department, my primary responsibilities entailed coordinating and ensuring that the sites functioned smoothly regarding venues, supplies, disposable items, personnel assigned and were present for their assigned shifts. Additionally, day-to-day functions of registering and supporting patients seeking to receive a COVID Test or Vaccine, ensuring that their experience was satisfying while visiting the sites. Supporting management by performing flow, inventory and transportation positions as needed was another aspect of the Logistics position.

As the Construction HSE Technician assigned to Auger TLP, my responsibilities include providing HSE support for all the demo, construction, electrical, painting and coating activities performed on the platform as part of the 2020 turn-around project. The position provides HSE expertise and guidance on the topics of HAZ-ID, Confined Space Entry, Hot-Work, PTW, Scaffold Erection & Demo, Lifting & Hoisting Operations, Management of Change, Incident Management & Prevention, CSMP Support, Stop Work Authority, HSE Related Training, Weekly Safety Meeting Planning and Implementation, USCG Training, DROPS Program guidance & BBSM. Additionally, NORM Survey/Sampling, Data Collection & Analysis of all the KPIs associated with the Project to include reporting upstream on a weekly basis are part of the responsibilities of the position. The Project and associated Contractors have achieved Goal Zero since having been assigned the position.

As the Compliance Auditing Team Lead, I am directly responsible for driving and delivering the Gap Assessment Process of Antero Resources’ Core Contractors to the Stakeholders. This assignment includes designing compliance documents and checklists pertaining to the areas the Stakeholders have requested and establishing a working relationship with Contractor Leadership in order to complete the Assessment in a timely manner. This responsibility looks at the Core Contractors for Antero’s Drilling & Completions Operations and requires a solid working knowledge of both Regulatory & Industry Standards while comparing the Contractor’s Internal Standards to these Industry Requirements.

My responsibilities include field HSE support for Antero’s Midstream Operations & Projects. This includes providing onsite HSE expertise regarding Antero, Regulatory and Industry expectations for Antero’s Midstream Ohio and West Virginia interests. I help identify any unsafe or non-compliant conditions, behaviors or actions by performing daily visits and observations at Antero Midstream’s Ohio and West Virginia Compressor Stations, Pipeline Maintenance Activities, Pipe Yards, Pipeline Installations and Construction Projects. Once areas of concern or praise have been identified, this information is communicated throughout the chain-of-command to Leadership for attention. Thusly, one of my roles is to provide solutions to any HSE related issues identified during these visits to both Antero Leadership and at times the Contractor.

My responsibilities included supporting HSE activities for the PT Wells Group in Permian as a Sr. HSE Technician. I functioned as a “Field Supervisor” for the Wells HSE Team. Our challenge was to successfully build a high-performing Wells HSE Team to support and grow the Safety Culture on our well sites. Establishing a competent, knowledgeable, and high-performing HSE Team was the priority. Team meetings were established with dedicated training sessions and assignments that ultimately aligned the HSE Team and established a solid Safety Culture throughout the Wells HSE Team. I provided field support to Wells Operations as well as for the Wells HSE Team. Weekly data reporting is also part of my responsibilities for the Wells Team and for the Permian Asset. I served as a NORM survey and sampling focal point drafting a Procedure for managing the NORM within Permian Wells. As the Wells Data focal point, I regularly and proficiently designed trainings, KPIs, data presentations, and the many special requests that arose in the business from Asset Leadership. Another responsibility I had was to regularly engage our contractors both onsite and at their yard to collectively identify gaps prior to, during, and after contracts had been awarded to the Contractor by Shell. Having been trained in and assigned to the Shell Global Emergency Response Team, the safety culture we supported and championed within the Asset never required the services of the ER Team. This is an accomplishment we were extremely proud of during my time with the HSE Team. The Wells HSE Leadership Team supported the growth of the Safety Culture within the Permian Asset by attending Asset HSE Leadership meetings. These meetings allow the HSE Teams from Logistics, Production, Wells, Construction, and Road Transport to share information, learnings, accomplishments and plans to bridge gaps “across borders.” These successful and supportive behaviors have helped to produce a high performing Safety Culture.

My responsibilities included supporting HSE activities for the PT Wells Group in Arrowhead as a Sr. HSE Technician. As one of the two Sr. HSE Technicians that were assigned to the Asset, I functioned as a “Field Supervisor” for the Wells HSE Team. Together, the HSE Leadership Team successfully built a Safety Culture within the Asset by establishing a Team related atmosphere instead of a unilaterally designed organization. Through establishing a regular face-to-face HSE Team meeting schedule with a portion of the meetings dedicated to HSE specific training, the competency, efficiency, and high performance of the Wells HSE Team was designed and developed. As the Wells HSE Team’s Safety Culture was developed, the expectations and performance of HSE onsite began to grow. Through the added value of the Wells HSE Team, relationships were established between the Wells HSE Team and the Wells Operations Team that further assisted in developing the Safety Culture on our well sites. As we were helping to establish the Safety Culture of the Wells group, our HSE Leadership Team sought out and acted upon opportunities to bridge the gaps between the Wells, Construction, and Production HSE Teams by establishing relationships and regular meetings designed to share information, learnings, accomplishments and plans “across borders.” Another responsibility I had was to regularly engage our Contractors both onsite and at their yard to collectively identify gaps prior to, during, and after contracts have been awarded to the Contractor by Shell. An additional responsibility I had was to provide field support for Wells Operations as well as the Wells HSE Team to support the Safety Culture of both the Arrowhead Asset and within Shell. My actions and my Team’s actions promoted and supported the growth of the Safety Culture of the Arrowhead Asset and not simply within Arrowhead Wells.

My responsibilities during this assignment included assessing drilling rigs, well servicing equipment, and completions projects prior to contracting the equipment for work on Shell locations. The goal of the assessments was to obtain a base-line impression of compliance to Industry and Governmental Standards, along with Shell’s policies and procedures. The team would then facilitate the Start-Up Process by bridging gaps identified and follow the rig through the first 90 days of working for Shell. The goal of the Team and the Process being to achieve an established level of compliance with Industry and Governmental regulations, along with Shell’s policies and procedures which will achieve the ultimate goal of improving the overall level of safety on the rig/project/completion operation.

During my assignment with Chevron - Gulf of Mexico Division, I consulted on safety related issues related to shutting in a production platform to complete scheduled maintenance on process equipment. My job tasks included holding regular safety meetings, assuring the PTW system was being utilized, verify confined space entry procedures were followed, intervening on unsafe acts, and consulting on LOTO and NORM issues.Accomplishments:-Achieved Goal Zero during the project,-Identified and addressed Ladder use and Fall Protection Issues that were ultimately addressed at a high level within the Company,-Identified and addressed a previously unseen potential dropped object on the platform, and-Identified and addressed a crane mechanical issue that created an unsafe condition for any rigger or operator of the platform crane.

During this assignment I consulted on safety issues related to Hydrology Well and Sodium Appraisal Well Drilling. My responsibilities included daily auditing and computer input, safety orientations and training, advising on transportation and load securement requirements related to the drilling rigs on multiple locations, intervening on unsafe acts and communicating with Operations to attain Goal Zero.Accomplishments: -Achieved Goal Zero during my assignment on the project, -Coordinated with the Drilling Superintendent to achieve uniformity among multiple rigs, rig crews, and varying levels of rig supervision, -Assisted in coordinating relief schedules between fellow safety representatives to maintain 24 hr. HSSE coverage on multiple rig sites, -Standardized the safety orientation process onsite, -Established and standardized the Proactive Efforts recording process for multiple rig locations, -Established an operations meeting which provided all levels of Mgt. a voice and a way to officially recognize outstanding employees on the rig, -Built a spreadsheet to record Safety award nominees, and -Created a filing system for safety related issues on multiple pads/rigs/wells.

While assigned to South Texas, I consulted on all drilling related safety issues and tasks for each of the drilling rigs within the Asset. Responsibilities included: -Provided mentoring for New Hires and Trainees, -Complete Daily/Weekly/Monthly Audits and computer input of findings, -Participate in the incident management process when required, -Input daily required computer information such as proactive efforts and environmental tracking information, -Participated in the Behavior Based Safety Management Process (both Shell’s and the Drilling Contractor’s), -Assisted in managing any injuries, incidents, or spills on the drilling location, -Entering accurate Incident information in the Upstream Americas computer recording process, -Maintained HSSE coverage during rig moves and audited the process, -Assisted in finalizing and sometimes initiating the TapRoot Incident Investigation Process on incidents occurring in the field, -Worked several tours in the Corporate offices assisting HSE Management in various computer related assignments such as information sharing and incident investigation, -Networked with subcontractors during incident investigations, and -Communicated Upstream Americas’ expectations of Contractors while on Shell locations.

During my assignment, I functioned as an offshore Paramedic, a Training Officer, Helicopter Landing Officer, and a Safety Coordinator on the Offshore Drilling Rigs where I was contracted. I thoroughly enjoyed the offshore environment. I truly felt at home on an offshore drilling rig and functioning as the medical care person in charge. During this assignment I efficiently managed any injuries and illnesses that were presented to me. I gladly took on the roles of the Training Coordinator, as required by my contracting company, monitoring and administering the yearly and monthly training per Coast Guard and contractor requirements. I also embraced the role of Safety Coordinator during my tenure. As such I would help maintain a safe and healthy work environment for myself and all of the offshore employees assigned to the rig I where I was contracted.
