The West Texas Roughnecks are a professional indoor football team of the Indoor Football League. The organization began play in 2004 under the name of the Odessa Roughnecks. The team enjoyed great success in their first season as part of the Intense Football League by finishing at 9-7 and reaching the post-season. The club would complete a rare undefeated regular season in 2005 (14-0) as a member of the NIFL finishing one game shy of the championship round. The Roughnecks would return to the Intense Football League in 2006 finishing 12-2 in the regular season and capturing the IFL Championship by defeating Corpus Christi in Intense Bowl II. The Roughnecks would reach the post-season in both the 2007 & 2008 seasons.
