Manage and direct the operations of the Amarillo MXNS facility.to meet organizational and client needs. This includes ensuring that the testing is being performed correctly and efficiently, that our location is meeting the requirements provided by our regulatory agencies, and that our client needs are being met and solutions are being provided for their needs.Responsible for overseeing the implementation of all new tests, instruments, and equipment. These responsibilities included the set-up of new technologies, testing schemes, client requests, and quality systems.Work closely with clients to determine testing needed for their operations, providing solutions for contamination events, working with formulation issues, and putting them in contact with the resources for their needs.Develop and review finished testing specifications in collaboration with the national and global corporate Quality and Technical departments.Participation and direction of investigations into testing failures and collaboration with our corporate quality team to ensure that we maintain the rigorous standards of ISO 17025.Work in close partnership with local, state, federal, and outside regulatory agencies, including the state of Texas, the USDA, the FDA, and AOAC.Work with procurement and the finance team to select materials and instruments which meet technical requirements and financial goals and contribute to cost saving initiatives. Recommend processes that will improve laboratory efficiencies.Maintain and organize all aspects of the laboratory: development, implementation, and approval of all new testing and subsequent variations, audit departments to ensure technical requirements are being met, manage customer feedback, manage lab training and documentation, ensure laboratory meeting client turn-around times.

Direct, maintain and staff Silliker’s ISO 17025 accredited laboratories, including Diagnostics, Preperatory, Media, Decontamination and Confirmations. Responsible for making sure all samples that pass through receive the utmost attention and specializes in pathogen testing and confirmation protocols, as well as quantitative plate testing for a wide spectrum of bacteria. Extensive technical knowledge of different testing assays, including different genetic detection systems (Biocontrol, ABAX and BioFire systems) and the Vitek Immuno Diagnostic Assay System (VIDAS). Required to maintain equipment and make sure that our biannual equipment maintenance is performed and maintaining calibrations.Responsible for making sure that the lab is adequately staffed and trained with the appropriate documentation to Silliker’s rigorous standards that encompass the ISO 17025 accreditation. Detailed training records are kept and revivification's are performed yearly to maintain proficiency.Responsible for making sure all results are accurate, properly charted and reported to clients. Quantitative results are charted in statistical control charts to verify accuracy and all qualitative testing has negative and positive controls, that are set up and maintained by the lab, to insure that our procedure is aseptic and that our method is successful at detecting the bacteria. Proficient in computer Lab Information Management Systems (LIMS) in order to track samples moving through our lab. Performing in our quarter annual method and system’s audits and making sure that all criteria are met and any deficiencies are corrected as well as working closely with our Corporate Quality Group to make sure our lab performs with the utmost precision.

Perform daily fungal toxin QA tests for animal food production; tests include for aflatoxin, fumonison, and vomitoxin fungal toxins.Perform weekly bacterial microbe QA tests for animal food production; tests include for Enterobacteriacea, E. coli / Coliforms, and Aerobic families of bacteria.Daily sampling and testing for received ingredients and finished products. Tests include for biological contamination as well as testing to verify product nutritional guarantees, including protein, fat, water content and produch ash levels, are met.Maintain Texas Farm Product’s FDA accredited lab through routine equipment calibration and maintenance.Test and sample all incoming ingredients and outgoing products. Maintain and use all relevant lab equipment. Maintain and use computer equipment.
