I am an experienced strategist, communicator and systems thinker with an interest in the growing risks associated with climate change and the energy transition and, in particular, in the implication of these risks for strategic political, diplomatic and corporate decision-making.Using the convening power of the WEF platform I develop and deliver cross-cutting programmes for a wide range of stakeholders that explore both emerging risks, and the context of uncertainty, at the intersection of climate change and economic decarbonisation. I try to provide robust, independent advice to leaders as an important challenge function where this may be required, and I aim to encourage a more holistic appreciation of climate risks by those leaders who might typically operate within a specific silo, or have a limited awareness of the overall system due to time constraints.I founded the WEF in 2004, and I still own and operate it as a small, independent think tank that is well-regarded in its ability to bring together diverse, and often competing, interests to hear from national and international experts without prejudice, using the WEF to openly exchange knowledge and ideas towards common solutions. The WEF does this entirely pro bono for both the public sector and NGOs in the public interest to ensure we reach all corners.During the past few years I have become Severely Sight Impaired and I now have only 5% of central vision remaining. Over this period I have undertaken various polar ski expeditions to understand better the scale and timing of the changing Arctic, eg by crossing Greenland, and I have also used these experiences also as a means of exploring personal resilience and the attributes for survival. The need for humanity to rapidly adapt to climate change in the face of accelerating risks is (in my experience!) not dissimilar to the challenge of sight loss. I am, therefore, increasingly interested in the factors that affect our perception and communication of risk, how we measure our vulnerability to risk and change in order to inform effective adaptation and resilience, and in what this means for the concept of personal and professional leadership within dynamic situations.

DirectorWestminster Energy Forum Dec 2003 - PresentLondon, England, United KingdomThe purpose of the WEF is to regularly convene a senior Leadership Network, and to discuss and disseminate actionable intelligence regarding climate risks and the energy transition among decision-makers as part of an established Knowledge Exchange Programme. The WEF delivers two complementary workstreams during the political year for a network of 150 organisations in the UK and overseas by invitation that include policymakers, regulators, industry, investors, NGOs and diplomats.Five strategic themes underpin our systems approach and help us cut across typical sector silos through our annual programme. These themes are:1. Uncertainties in Climate Science and Trends in Climate Change2. Geopolitics of International Energy Transitions and Implications for Net Zero Delivery3. Delivering UK Energy Transition and Carbon Targets via Policy and Regulation4. Energy System Innovation and Transformation via Technology and Infrastructure Integration5. Risk-based Challenges for Corporate Strategy, Capital Deployment and the Licence to OperateAll WEF agendas are policy and technology agnostic and seek to explore decision-making under uncertainty, providing a challenge function to exploring the dynamics of the risks and drivers involved in policymaking and infrastructure deployment.www.westminsterenergy.org -
