I am the Sr. Product Manager for Chiral Technologies Inc, a subsidiary of the Daicel Corp. We are the industry leader in chiral separations for the pharmaceutical industry. As the Sr. Product Manager, I’m in charge of all analytical and preparative chiral method development for Chiral in North, Central, and South America. I am also in charge of managing and coordinating all in-house and outsourced global separations projects for Chiral, as well as the manager of the operations group overseeing chiral column packing.I am well versed in documented synthetic protocols, in addition to a vast experience in generating new ones. This is reflected in the body of work I have put forth, including several publications and speaking engagements. My graduate work afforded me the opportunity to repair and maintain several key pieces of instrumentation, including but not limited to Teledyne ISCO Combiflash Rf Flash Chromatographer, Bruker Avance III 500 MHz NMR Spectrometer, Bruker APEX II Single Crystal Diffractometer, Waters Synapt G2 HDMS Qtof, Agilient 1100 Series HPLC, ThermoFisher Nicolet™ iS™ 5 FT-IR Spectrometer, and a Shimadzu UV-3600 Plus Spectrophotometer. I also have an extensive amount of experience as a teaching assistant, private tutor, and in-lab mentor. My graduate research was focused around the synthesis of small biologically active molecules via a Diversity-Oriented Synthesis modular approach. Utilizing an Excited-State Intramolecular Proton Trasnfer (ESIPT), the photogeneration of o-azaxylylenes and their subsequent excited state trapping leads to the formation of unprecedented scaffold diversity. New molecular scaffolds include those containing interesting polyheterocycles such as beta-lactams, hydantoins, ureas, and carbamates. The resulting scaffolds were then modified further through post-photochemical modifications, resulting in further scaffold diversification.
