The Graduate Certificate in Computer Science Fundamentals includes a curriculum designed for students who are looking to become programmers or software engineers. It also allows students to enter the Master of Computer Science program upon completion.Fall 2021:Database Operations - In this class, we learned SQL and used MySQL Workbench. This included database design and Entity Relationship Diagrams, as well as writing SQL queries. In my final project, my team and I made a database for a mock fantasy basketball game. This included generating mock data using Mockaroo, and creating an interface using Java's JDBC ORMData Structures - This course involved using C++ to learn about data structures such as binary search trees and hash tables. We also practiced Big-O analysisWinter 2022:Object Oriented Concepts - This course used C++ and C# to explore contractual design in programming. Our projects involved interpreting requirements and creating classes that met those requirements. Lectures focused on design decisions in object oriented languages, such as inheritance and compositionComputing Systems Principles I - This course involved working with binary, learning assembly code, and discussing operating systems. One project involved writing a program in assembly language. We covered cache memory and OS scheduling algorithms as well.

I oversaw installations of electronic equipment at Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs) located in WA, CO and UT. These facilities control air traffic 24/7, 365 days per year. My role involved a lot of planning and risk mitigation with other engineers, local technicians and air traffic control staff. In addition to my implementation work, I managed small projects independently, or helped my team manage the larger projects

This was a temporary detail with the Planning and Requirements Group, on the EnRoute and Communications PIM team. During these four months I earned my PMP certification, managed roughly $3.4 million of projects, and attended training. Much of my project management activities centered around producing baseline scope and schedule documents with our customers, and giving briefings to both Engineering Services and our Program Management Offices. I had a great experience working with these folks, and I am glad to have had the opportunity.

I assisted Dr. Brian Fischer of the Seattle University math department in his computational neuroscience work. This included creating a MATLAB model that implemented Bayesian prediction, presenting the project at conferences and eventually publishing a paper called Optimal Prediction of Moving Sound Source Direction in the Owl.
