Towards the end of fall 2021, I decided to accept a new role as Senior analyst for Abbott's Electrophysiology (EP) Operations Finance team.In this role, I am responsible for financial support & reporting to the Quality organization within EP’s operations, across five manufacturing sites: - St. Paul, MN - Minnetonka, MN - Plymouth, MN - Irvine, CA - San José, CRThe EP Quality organization manages ~$60M of annual spend and has over 600 dedicated employees across its sites. I will be lead analyst responsible for the ~30 cost centers across our six Quality Directors; all reporting up to EP’s Quality DVP. I have yet to work an Operations finance role in my career. I am excited for the growth & learning opportunities this new role will bring.

During the summer of 2021, I was promoted within my team to Senior Analyst level.Though I was performing at a senior analyst level prior to being promoted, I knew the promotion would bring further expectations for my production, and I was excited for the new challenge.I would continue my previous tasks, with now taking on larger role in our new company process of forecasting out a 10Q forecast (the remaining 1/2 of the current fiscal year, as well as the next two fiscal years). With this new process, I knew we would need detailed information for all our business's regional splits, as well as Q/Q & Y/Y growth comparisons by those regional breakouts. Therefore, I began a project of putting together a template that allowed our teams to add an input to our upfront tab on what the latest system forecast was, a simple refresh, and a breakout of each major region, sub-region, and country break out of our P&L for each business within Neuromod & PH.I was very much enjoying the work my team was tasking me with and the knowledge I was continuing to learn in role. However, towards the end of fall 2021, I received an offer for an operations role with Abbott Laboratories which would further my knowledge set & I decided to move forward with accepting.

Since graduating from the University of Minnesota, joining the Neuromodulation & Pelvic Health Operating Unit's finance team was the first completely new role I accepted.My role consisted of being the lead analyst support for our total Neuromodualtion & Pelvic Health P&L and FCF roll ups, consisting of approximately $8B in total annual revenue.I was responsible for organizing and creating our financial templates for our business partners, setting the context for the discussion to show meaningful data & promote actionable insights.My manager & myself were responsible for keeping ~40+ global business partners in alignment across of fiscal planning calendar. We would do this through clear & concise communication on key upcoming deliverables, timing of deadlines, and who is ultimately the audience of the information.In this role, I learned how to improve my time-efficiency through finding methods to automate items that were time consuming to replicate each week/month. I also improved my communication technique and SAP system's knowledge.In March 2021, we had an employee from our Pelvic Health Sales team depart from the company, with a 2-month waiting window for a replacement analyst. Therefore, my managers recommended my assistance in helping support our sales finance team in the interim. In this role, I was directly assisting our sales reps with SAP systems support. For items such as new sales reps being connected with new districts/hospitals, and aligning those request in our systems, helped me better understand our SAP systems than simply retrieving financial data.I also was the direct support for training in the new Senior Analyst hired to the role - making sure our business partners did not miss a request through the transition process.By the end of my seventh month mark in the role, my willingness to aid in additional support & hard work had been recognized & I was promoted to the Senior Analyst level.

My promotion from associate to analyst meant I was still responsible for continuing to lead RTG's capital expenditure by program tracking & FCF reporting, but now also helping manage several other reports, including:- RTG’s quarterly investor relations presentation - RTG’s capital expenditure review meetings (with executive VP Cathy Wright)- Monthly Flash Financial reports, giving first look to monthly/quarterly results- RTG’s monthly forecast targeting process/system forecasting submission- Managing RTG’s CapEx/Depreciation forecasting/targeting process for both Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan (AOP)- Peer advising our summer intern, helping answer any and all questions he had while working through getting up to speed with all things RTG finance. Beyond my normal responsibilities, I also stepped in for an unfilled senior analyst position on the team for six months (Feb 2020- July 2020); additional responsibilities include: - Crafting RTG’s Monthly Financial Reviews (MFR) presented to the Medtronic executive team- Weekly financial results updates sent out across RTG- Quarter Close package reporting- Helping lead FP&A council meetings - connecting with the RTG finance teams to ensure alignment given the changing nature with the Covid-19 pandemic- Helped manage our “Covid AOP” process, as we had to completely reset RTG's pre-Covid annual operating plan- Continued to drive valuable insights on what capital programs trade-offs, as our capital budget was reduced given the uncertainty around the pandemic

After graduation, I began my full time career in RTG's FP&A team. My main responsibilities included (but not limited to): - Lead rollout of RTG's capital by project system, which tracks 1000+ annual RTG project investments across its business, allowing leadership to make more informed trade off decisions.- Helped lead process improvement to our standard MFR process - creating better process flow & allowing more time for teams to drive valuable insights for leadership.- Managed RTG’s Free Cash Flow (FCF) reports, along with Risk/Opportunity consolidation & analysis, amongst other total RTG reports.

Following my summer internship, I was hired back to RTG's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, working part-time through my senior year at the Carlson School of Management. This allowed me to continue to learn the businesses, as well as improve my analytical skills, before joining the team full time following graduation.

For my first internship, I was fortunate to be working as a financial analyst for Medtronic’s Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) Financial Planning and Analysis team.In this role, I was responsible for:- Meeting and networking with our business partners to build connections and understand their responsibilities within their role. - Helping to prepare monthly financial presentations- Assisted with what would later become an evolving project of organizing and reporting our CAPEX by project (vs. project groupings).

Starting the fall of my junior year, I began working part time as a TA for my 3001 finance professor, John Molloy. I would help to grade homework assignments, quizzes, and tests for the 3001 finance course. Beginning Spring semester, I started to also host a tutoring session once per week where students could come to my office hours and ask questions they had on homework assignments, along with getting extra prep leading up to tests. I enjoyed this role as it helped me better my foundational knowledge of finance through teaching the material to other students. I also gained a greater appreciation for my professors as I often had to prep before office hours on the homework/test prep materials to ensure I felt confident with explaining how to tackle each question in a way that made sense to students who may have been struggling to fully grasp the material.

Part-time job while I was completing my finance & accounting degree. I would referee intramural basketball games on weekday evenings, teaching me how to find a balance between holding a part time job while being a full time student. I enjoyed this job and was eventually promoted to supervisor. I was pleased to be promoted with pay being better, though I did miss being a part of the game and working to become a better referee each game.

The summer after my freshman year, I started my first full time position as a fence builder. Once trained in, I began helping delegate tasks for both myself and the team to strive towards our best work & productivity. Improved my time management & organizational skills through crafting strategies on how to complete jobs efficiently. Accountable for ensuring we had all the necessary materials and tools needed for each job. Frankly, a lot of hard work put in with this role and I truly cherished the time working along side my dad and fencing crew.

Positioned both on the floor and in the back room of the store, I developed my customer service skills as well as learning how the business operates.Being a member of a 20+ person team helped to develop my communication skills through constantly needing to verbalize customer needs to other team members in order to find desired products in a timely manner.Organizational skills were key in the back room of the store, where I helped organize over 50,000 inventory items so team members were able to quickly find specific items by knowing exactly where to look for them.I enjoyed the learning experiences from this role & would’ve likely stayed longer if not for starting school in the fall.

My family joined the Minnesota State Fair in 1974. We are the ‘Minnekabob’ stand & have two locations: one right outside the food building, and one inside the food building (right next to the cheese curds).
