About Weverton Timoteo

At a certain point in my career, my focus shifted towards Ruby. As I progressed, I methodically expanded my skill set, embracing a diverse range of tools. Adopting Elixir, which I seamlessly integrated with my passion for Ruby.My expertise encompasses a broad spectrum, covering Back-end technologies such as Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Golang, and Elixir, as well as Front-end technologies like JavaScript, ReactJS, VueJS, AngularJS, HTML5, and CSS. I also possess proficiency in Mobile development, working with Objective-C, Swift, Java, and I'm well-versed in DevOps practices with experience on platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.Presently, I am on an entrepreneurial journey as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to establish SourceLevel—a platform that leverages DORA and Pull Request metrics to accelerate deliveries and mature engineering practices. This venture not only elevated my expertise but also allowed me to further hone not only Code Review skills but also teach how to lead.

At SourceLevel, I assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer for the second time in my career. Alongside co-founding SourceLevel as a spin-off from Plataformatec, I spearheaded the establishment of the product team. This role afforded me the opportunity to mentor others while continuously expanding my expertise in Code Quality and Software Engineering Metrics. Our practices included daily meetings with the technical team and weekly gatherings with the entire company, serving as an effective means of disseminating information and fostering team cohesion in our small company setting. One of our core principles was to cultivate an environment of Psychological Safety for all individuals. We utilized Ruby on Rails to aggregate data from GitHub and GitLab, presenting it through an application developed with the Phoenix Framework (Elixir) and VueJS. This transition marked a pivotal moment as we shifted our product focus from Code Quality, supporting over 20 programming languages using open-source linters, to a platform dedicated to Pull Request metrics, DORA, SPACE, and other critical areas.

    Payfy Apr 2018 - Feb 2019

payfy (former KM Online) has shown to be a great challenge, becoming a CTO here I also become responsible for a legacy app that uses Ruby On Rails with many technical challenges and a desire for delivering strategic features which would converge in new customers conversion.Align co-founders expectations were a task addressed with clear and effective communication, in addition to introducing a development methodology that allows them to prioritize company needs. I was responsible for building a product team and consequently for hiring, as a team we've introduced a complete test suite to ensure the implemented behavior of what was being developed and improve existing code quality in the platform. Our product was also present on Android and iOS mobile platforms being accessed by various user roles, therefore monitoring its usage, we collected all the errors that occurred in the applications making possible to fix them as soon as possible. With an objective of processing some background services, we've decided to use Elixir as the programming language and its pattern known as GenStage to build a background job processor that reads content from AWS SQS queue. For an internal tool, we've succeeded in validating Golang programming language to request API data, caching them locally and generating rich data as output for our company users.

Autocargo platform has a focused software for fleet management, tracking, and vehicle intelligence that meets called IVEI in many needs of customers with a vehicle fleet monitored by a tracking module. It was a great opportunity to learn GIS (Geographic Information System) provided in Postgres through PostGIS extension, which made me curious about studying geolocation topics. The lack of a specific employee responsible for the product, a product owner, made me join the feeling of ownership which team has by the product. This emerged as a major concern of quality and accurate deliverables according to user needs. When dealing with an application that already had a few years of life before I joined the team, I had the experience of dealing with a project where many libraries were outdated and it was very rewarding to master all the care to keep our dependencies and libraries properly updated without compromising software functionality.I had the pleasure of mentoring some developers who migrated to Ruby language, both with a completely different linguistic determinism (from the point of view of programming languages ). And was great to win vision of one of the platforms that I didn't practice commercially and mentoring I earned some views of the journey experienced by another developer. And finally, could play a crucial role to define and to break a monolithic application and helping to give the direction to application evolution in the next layers of the product backlog.
  • Dinda.Com.Br
    Software Developer

    São Paulo, São Paulo, Br
Working on Dinda.com.br since the beginning as a startup company made me realize how the market is lacking for more options, more shopping options, more style options and great e-commerce product (as an application). It was here that I began to work with non-monolithic apps, such as RESTful APIs, Background Jobs, Processors and Messaging Systems, among many others. Concepts like Auto Scaling, AWS SDK, Queue, Pub/Sub, Unix Signal Programming left the paper and became part of my routine.Agile methodologies, a mix of Scrum and Kanban, were part of the development process as well as several other events and process.

When I started working with the team realized the great potential that we had to cause a disruptive event in developing e-commerce in Brazil. With the mindset geared to user experience, rapid response to bugs and A/B testing allow me to gain great insight from the point of view of business and not only as a developer. In Baby.com.br I felt a great leap as a developer who contributed so much to the experience that I have now, especially for the support of my teammates for practice activities such as pair programming.

    São Paulo, Sp, Br
At Webforce Networks, I started off as a Front-end Developer, working on XPG, a free hosting platform powered by PHP and jQuery. As things evolved, I transitioned into a Fullstack Developer role. That's when our Product Team came up with BigBlog, a platform akin to Tumblr, where users could share all sorts of media – from blogs to music, photos, and videos. It was a real peak in the Web 2.0 era of user-generated content.During my time there, I became proficient in PHP and took on the challenge of being a Fullstack Developer. I was heavily involved in the development and launch of BigBlog, which was quite an achievement in terms of user engagement and content creation. My focus was on making sure the platform was dynamic and user-friendly.It was also during this time that I had my first experience with Version Control Systems (VCS), starting with SVN (Subversion). As we kicked off the BigBlog platform, we made the transition to Git, which streamlined our development process and collaboration efforts.
