Working with a consortium of researchers and leaders from across the state of Illinois to develop and implement a forthcoming Latinx-specific PrEP social media campaign.

As part of AIDS Foundation Chicago's Get-To-Zero Statewide HIV Elimination Initiative, I am leading a cohort of Latinx LGBTQ college students in a HIV-centered mentorship program to prepare them to enter the public health or medical workforce to stop the epidemic.I developed a culturally sensitive curriculum that inducts these young students into an intersectional analysis of the HIV public health field in order to activate each of them as leaders within their diverse communities across the state.

∙ Implemented the rollout of the Chicagoland Area Resource Coordination Hub, a centralized referral program that connects people living with or vulnerable to HIV to direct services∙ Composed training materials for colleagues throughout this unprecedented collaboration between Center on Halsted (COH) and AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) ∙ Directly addressed our community’s needs during the COVID-19 pandemic by processing over $600k in emergency assistance funds with our partner organization, AFC∙ Operated the database for IDPH’s grant-funded State of Illinois AIDS, HIV and STI Hotline ∙ Traveled throughout the demographic areas that the Hub was built to serve, making personal connections with Population Centered Health Homes and private health agencies

∙ Developed a safe, nurturing environment for patients from diverse backgrounds to provide care, reproductive education, and counseling, often providing crisis interventions∙ Provided direct care, navigating patients through specific health information and procedures in clear, simple language and terms∙ Diligently complied with all HIPPA regulations and required informed consent protocols∙ Drafted documents detailing patient care for staff regarding PrEP and nPEP initiation∙ Maintained relationships with patients who required follow-up care, particularly in cases of sexual assault, encouraging adherence to applicable PEP regimens and continuing care∙ Skilled phlebotomist, administered rapid HIV tests daily, including confirmatory testing

Performed in depth family interviews within BIPOC communities on the South Side of Chicago regarding LGBTQ acceptance and its impact on sexual health.
