Northwood Hq

The Senior Non Commissioned Officer in charge of Op Hornbeam, initially seconded to the British Army Intelligence Corps recently re located to N2 Naval Intelligence within the Maritime Operations Centre in Northwood HQ. Working in close conjunction with other military and government organisations with regards to Merchant Maritime Shipping. Ensuring that all findings are reported to the National Maritime Information Centre (NMIC) in Northwood and the National Port Authorities Centre (NPAC) in Liverpool. Senior Liaison Officer for all UK Port SB Officers and other government agencies dealing with maritime ship and port security. Providing briefings and being the main point of contact for liaison between SB ports officers and the military.

Nmic Northwood Hq

For the period of the Olympics and the Paralympics i was seconded from Naval Intelligence to the National Maritime Information Centre (NMIC). Acting as the liaison between all National Police Special Branch Ports Units and CTIU's. Working closely with other Civillian Organisations such as MCA, MMO, UKBF, SOCA. Predominantly dealing with national security of all commercial vessels that enter into UK ports. Also working with a worldwide overview ensuring that vessels transiting the worlds shipping lanes are aware of any dangers or hazards that may affect their transits, such as enviromental disasters or vessels in distress or difficulty.I now work very closely with the NMIC on a daily basis as well as all the external agencies associated with its work.

Maritime Operations Centre Northwood Hq

Royal Navy Personal Weapons and Maritime Force Protection Instructor. Delivery and validation of time current Anti-Piracy and Maritime Security training and conducting operational briefs, up to Senior Executive management level. Boarding Officer and Boarding Team member, Instructor for Board and Search Operations. Utilising small boat or helicopter insertion methods. Senior Executive management level advisor on Irregular and Conventional threat. Giving formal debriefs and written reports to Senior Officers on personnel and whole ship performance. Royal Navy and NATO unit Counter Piracy validation team which ensures that units are correctly trained, prepared and current in all aspects of theatre specific CP ops. Validating these units as theatre proficient prior to deployment or before they enter operational theatres. Responsibilities in this role include delivery of up to date Anti-piracy,SERE and Maritime Security Briefs to military personnel up to and including 1*/Senior Executive management level.Part of a six man team that have carried out in theatre operational assurance visits within the HRA to naval units to ensure policy is kept up to date.SME on Counter Piracy Measures Advisor/Trainer on Military and Merchant shipping self protection measuresTeam Leader for Maritime Assault groups.Small Arms Instructor.Maritime Heavy Weapons Instructor.Explosives Logistics store keeper for accountability and storage of explosive stores. FP trainer in all manner of Small Arms and Close Range Weapons

Ships Force Protection Manager responsible for ensuring weapon crews remain in date for training as well as being the Command Advisor when dealing with incoming waterborne attacks. Ensuring whole ship security is maintained whilst both at sea and whilst alongside. Boarding team and Anti Piracy team member on numerous occasions carrying out both counter narcotics and anti piracy operations within selected theatre of operations predominantly, the Horn of Africa, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman and Arabian Gulf. These have also included close liaison with UKSF and RM’s from FPGRM.

Departmental manager for 115 personnel. Responsible for conducting job evaluations, carrying out job selections and rotations, to ensure maximum exposure to corporate ethos and knowledge dissemination. I provided life cycle management, including planning, programming all leave to maintain essential staff levels, prevent accumulation of untaken leave and provide work/life balance to all personnel. Direct line manager to 15 personnel, ensuring their training was up to date for all their required roles within the ship and their pastoral needs were considered and where necessary and achievable, acted upon. In port duty Captain’s representative in all fire fighting, ship safety and security matters. Taught and assessed bridge safety personnel and weapon crews ability to evaluate and communicate threat levels.

Providing comprehensive training routine to fit around the ship and crews daily routine, whilst ensuring all weapon qualified personnel were legal and current for Weapon Handling Tests and Annual Personal weapons Test. In date for ROE and conflict resolution training relating the training to small team tactics and sentry duties.
