Graduate Research Assistant
Solid-State Battery Group of Dr. Eric Wachsman's Lab in the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute at the University of MarylandIn this lab, my research deals with refining the production of fully solid-state batteries. My current research focuses on improving the structural integrity of these batteries.
Laboratory Technician
I worked in the nondestructive analysis lab managed by the Applied Research Center at William and Mary. I helped to manage equipment requests, aided in equipment upkeep, and helped train researchers on the use of equipment. From my time in this lab, I have become proficient with several pieces of equipment including the Dektak Surface Profiler, the Hirox 3D Microscope, the Profilm 3D Optical Profilometer, the Phenom ProX with EDX, the Renishaw Raman Spectrometer, and the Hitachi S-4700 FESEM with EDX.
Research Assistant
I worked in a alternative energy lab under Dr. Cooke in the physics department at William and Mary. In this lab I have participated in several projects.Molten Salt Grant (March 2017-May 2019)This grant focused on improving the efficiency of condensed solar energy production. There are two main goals that I focused on in this project. The the first was to characterize the growth of oxide in a high temperature solar salt environment the second is to develop a method to non-destructively characterize that growth in short time periods. Currently, data collected from this project is being organized into a publication.Electroplating Project(June 2018-May 2019)The goal of this project was to use electroplating to plate components of a solid state battery. We are hoping to use this process to produce high temperature species of LCO (Lithium Cobalt Oxide) at lower temperatures than what is normally required. Using this method, we were able to produce LCO at a faster rate than normal production methods, such as RF magnetron sputtering.
Volunteer Research Assistant
I assisted a graduate researcher with processing biological samples recovered from a marsh study. This study was researching how the different kinds of marsh grasses and animals impact the growth or decay of the marshes themselves.
