Reporting to the Research Manager, the role involved leading and contributing to research projects tosupport the outcomes of the branch and wider organisation, while helping to build a new team.Key Accountabilities• Lead or input to large, complex research and evaluation projects• Support Manager with relationship building• Support Manager with strategic work programme planning and prioritisation• Act for my Manager in their absence• Represent the Ministry at external working groups – eg developing a statistical classification forgenderKey Achievements• Fostered new ways of working for the team, including developing project management and quality assurance templates & processes. These tools enabled the team to work on multiple projects at a time.• Seconded to ACC for two months to work on refreshing the Injury Prevention Strategy with a focus on data driven insights.• Found new, client-focused ways of working. For example automating modelling for the annualminimum wage review to allow the Ministry to provide additional policy advice more quickly andefficiently.• Hosted branch away day, facilitating group discussion.• Co-presenting a session on cross-agency evaluation at the Aotearoa New Zealand EvaluationAssociation conference in July 2014.• Led research input into a variety of policy projects including:- Minimum Wage review- Paid Parental Leave extensions• Led and contributed to a number of research and evaluation projects including:- Evaluation of ACC’s Experience Rating system- Reporting results of National Survey of Employers- Baseline report for KiwiSaver Standardised Periodic Disclosure- Baseline report for Financial Markets Conduct Act• Managed team’s summer intern – taking responsibility for expectation setting, coaching anddevelopment.
