    When I came back from Asia I decided to take a break from large scale, global projects. Instead, the wife and I decided to limit our travel and get ourselves resettled reintegrated into our home in the United States.I started a business specializing in debt remediation and alternative financing for businesses that have fallen on tough times. I was able to create significant debt restructuring programs for several companies, including debt forgiveness and extended payment plans. My affiliation with a national debt restructuring organization provided me with sources for alternative lending.I coupled this with my previous experience in running my own businesses to offer a variety of consulting services to companies in trouble. While we focused on dealing with the immediate debt problems, I looked at other aspects of the company, including marketing and sales strategies, technology plan, product lines, staffing and salaries, and an overall financial analysis to determine how the company got into trouble and what the prospects were of a long term improvement. I learned that there is a very narrow market for debt remediation services. The number of companies that can use such services is limited; small, mortally underfunded companies cannot recover, no matter how generous the debt remediation that is negotiated, while larger companies have in house expertise.
