Having forty years experience in the voluntary sector, and over ten years experience of teaching first aid for St John Ambulance, now teaching first aid as a contractor for local charity the Milton Keynes Safety Centre (Hazard Alley).

First aid and mental health first aid instructor/assessor. Position required intensive transfer of skills/knowledge to groups ranging from school children through to healthcare professionals.

Over forty years experience as a volunteer. Roles included training, recruitment and retention of volunteers, first aider, and ambulance technician. I have provided first aid cover at numerous events in and around Milton Keynes including sporting events, motor sports, pop concerts, and local group events. In addition I have provided support for the local NHS ambulance trust, and collected patients who had been repatriated by air ambulance.

Part-time visiting lecturer assisting in the undergraduate modules pathophysiology and botanical medicines. I also ran the MSc module Researching Contemporary Issues in Complementary Medicine. This role involved lesson planning, carrying out lectures, marking assignments, and facilitating/supporting students in order to help them identify relevant questions to investigate, before planning, implementing, and feeding back their research to peers/fellow academics at an end of year conference.

Voluntary role: Chair/trustee for the charity in charge of strategic planning for the clinic, as well as employing those who ran it on a day-to-day basis. The role involved promotion of the clinic, negotiation/liaison with Middlesex University, overall control of budgets, people management skills (including conflict resolution), information governance and clinical governance for the clinic’s patients.
