Reviews related medical information and identifies issues that may obstruct issuance of the policy as applied for, and develops creative solutions, presenting agents with alternatives. Performs “pre-underwriting" function through review and analysis of medical and occupational information, family history and beneficiary designation. Identifies issues which may impede issuance of the policy. Based on assessment and on knowledge of practices of individual carriers, contacts internal and/or carrier Underwriting staff to confirm validity of issues. Conferred with writing agent to discuss coverage alternatives. Based on age, face amount and individual carrier guidelines, orders initial requirements on behalf of the agent/broker.
