After assisting a 3rd grade field trip, I realized the way to a struggling student's heart. Helping others see their potential has always been one of my biggest priorities. At the beginning of my career, going through the teaching program was overwhelming. There are so many areas to focus on! After listening to a struggling student's concerns, I knew how to help him. He went from being one of the most challenging students in the class, to one of the most creative and willing to volunteer. At the end of a school day, a student will remember most how they feel during class, and if they are motivated to learn.Student teaching for a 4th grade classroom, 3rd grade literacy reading groups of 5 students, summer school, and assistant teaching in a Montessori classroom of 15 students, have taught me the most powerful tool a teacher can carry is unconditional love for each individual student.
