In this capacity, Whitney delivered returns across one of the largest Emerging Market allocations in the industry, and strengthened Bridgewater's timeless understanding of systematic macro drivers of EM through time.

At Soros, Whitney co-managed an internal allocation with a dual Global Macro (cross-asset) and Global Long/Short Financial Equity mandate. In this capacity, Whitney and her team built and employed macro, credit, flows, liquidity modelling and forecasting techniques to project economic outcomes and implement associated cross-asset macro trades across the portfolio, with additional application of those views to financial sector equities looking for alpha on both long and shorts. In addition to portfolio management within these strategies, Whitney regularly advised the CIO and macro-strategy teams to provide input and leverage trade ideas at the broader firm and portfolio levels. The team's macroanalysis was supplemented with rigorous bottom-up modelling of corporate financials, sensitivity and scenario analysis, and regular contact with management and high-level macro authorities. Primary portfolio coverage extended to Brazil, China, South Africa, India, Australia, Hong Kong, and Emerging Markets across South-East Asia and CEE. At the function level, the team deployed fundamental bottom-up stock modeling of banks/non-bank financials; equity valuation; macro modeling and forecasting techniques; in-depth analysis of macro drivers and data, and multi-asset trade valuation, risk management, and portfolio construction and oversight.

Whitney co-managed a global long/short portfolio of financial equities across all sub-sectors within a team of four. Returns substantially outpaced the median Financials L/S, Equity L/S and Global Macro peer-set and the MSCI ACWI Financials with, on average, half the volatility of the sector, and a third of the peer set. Whitney principally managed exposures across the Global Emerging Markets universe, with significant additional experience trading developed world financials. In her capacity as joint manager of the fund, Whitney's functions included: Equity modelling and valuation; macro-analysis, corporate contact; trading; position sizing and portfolio construction including dynamic management of gross and net; risk management; client reporting; and extensive marketing/asset gathering.
