I used to think I loved mathematics because I loved music, but now I know that I love music because I love mathematics. I understand the universe better because of my understanding and love of mathematics. I decided to become a math teacher because of that love of mathematics combined with my love of working with people. After 10 years in the math classroom, I became a Learning Coach with a math focus. I continued teaching math courses online for Launch (Missouri's online learning platform) and seated/online for OTC (Ozark Technical College). In my free time, I love to read and do math for fun. For years I would spend occassional evenings liesurely working my way through an old Calculus textbook. This year I have started studying for the first actuary exam (Exam P). I will always be a mathematician, and I would love to use the communication and collaboration skills I've gained as a teacher and coach in an actuary or mathematician role someday.
