Launched in 2008, Ashoka U offers the Changemaker Campus Designation to leading institutions in social innovation and changemaking in higher education. Changemaker Campuses empower students and all university stakeholders to be changemakers, firmly embed changemaking into their culture and operations, and work to address both local and global challenges. They are re-envisioning the role of higher education and the university in society as major drivers of social impact.

Each cohort of the AshokaU Commons is facilitated by a Coach with in-depth knowledge of social innovation and an understanding of the field that is aligned with Ashoka U’s philosophy. Coaches will draw on their extensive experience working in university settings and within in the field of social innovation education.Participants will work closely with their Coach over the course of their Commons experience. Specifically, Coaches will co-facilitate calls with their entire cohort, conduct individual calls to advise each institution on establishing objectives for their project, host office hours for their cohort, and offer pinpointed feedback to Commons participants at the conclusion of their experience on how to continue embedding this work at their institutions.
