Student Resource Navigator

Poughkeepsie, New York, United States

I am proud to be the Student Resource Navigator for DCC CARES, a program at DCC that helps students meet their needs outside of the classroom, so that they can focus on being excellent students inside the classroom. I manage a Student Emergency Fund for both academic and non-academic needs, as well as coordinate childcare tuition assistance for student parents and a laptop loaner program. Since May 2022, I have also been responsible for a housing stability program at DCC, working with housing insecure students in our residence hall and in the community. From Fall 2023 to Fall 2024, I was proud to be involved in the DSP microcredential program, connecting DSP microcredential students to wraparound funds and referrals to resources and services. In order to have resources to provide our students, I am also constantly collecting meaningful data and narratives for our partners, which gives me the opportunity to continuously assess the efficacy of our efforts. Since my joining DCC CARES as SRN, our program has disbursed or won to disburse more than 1M in direct student aid, with close collaboration with the DCC Foundation, the Grants office, and DCC leadership. Because of these partnerships, I have been able to work with hundreds of students to support them in moving closer to their academic and career goals.

Program Assistant

Poughkeepsie, New York, United States

As a Program Assistant, I supported the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability in both daily operations and long-term projects. I was responsible for verifying applications for our Student Emergency Fund, which is administered by DCC CARES, as well as for placing the requisitions for these funds to be disbursed. I also assisted with database management and capturing data about the students who come through our office, including synthesizing meaningful statistics for grant reports and applications. For Student Conduct & Community Standards, I was involved with records maintenance and communicating with students.

Federal Contractor: Verbatim Hearing Reporter

Hudson Valley, Ny

In my role as a Verbatim Reporter, I served as a clerk to Administrative Law Judges during hearings for the Social Security Administration, recording legal proceedings and transcribing in real-time. I was responsible for operating the recording equipment, as well as running the video conferencing when the hearings were being conducted by the ALJ from a different site. I also brought the claimants and their representatives to the hearing room and handled the paperwork for each docket. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked as a federal contractor for the Social Security Administration, as it provided me with insight into being a public servant for the US government.

Eugene Lang College, New York, Ny

At Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, I conducted ethnographic research on liberal arts higher education.• For the Lang Alumni Project, I administered a qualitative-quantitative survey that was sent to more than 2,100 Lang graduates. The research produced data about student experiences and their lasting impact, and it was featured in a front-page article by The Chronicle of Higher Education. • As part of a project sponsored The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, I also conducted an analysis of the college’s syllabi, looking at how race and ethnicity were being taught by different departments over a two-year period.• In my last project at The New School, I designed an ethnographic study of the Civic Arts and Humanities program, now the Civic Liberal Arts program. Combining a qualitative-quantitative survey with in-person interviews and months of participant-observation, I produced a paper about the learning model for The Whiting Foundation.
