About Whitney Clapper

I grew up near St. Louis, Missouri where I learned to tap maple trees, run the trails overlooking the Mississippi River, and get into good trouble. My father taught English at the local college, and my mother taught piano. My older brother builds guitars in Durham, North Carolina, and taught me the swear words and proper use of the middle finger at a very young age. I am an environmental and social justice advocate, with over two decades of storytelling and community engagement. I believe that small gestures can loom large and I utilize empathy to create spaces for innovation and collaboration. I unite diverse voices to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises, bridging the gap between business and Indigenous communities. My approach emphasizes the importance of building new models and fostering community to shape a better, more just world.My values remain:1. The polycrisis or climate, biodiversity and human suffering is here and we have little time to make some drastic changes. I believe that we can make these changes and that they must be swift and in unison with those on the frontlines.2. I'm not interested in selling or marketing more stuff that the world doesn't need, but will gladly create and share a well-crafted, thoughtful human story that will inspire you to take action.3. If you think that environmental and social justice are two separate movements, I'm interested in connecting to help you and your brand or organization understand they they are not separate. Let's talk about this inherent intersection, and set up systemic practices to incorporate this realization into your long-term, strategic plans.4. I believe that the health of our planet is in remembering forward Indigenous and historically Black led practices.5. I am a co-conspirator with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Queer, Trans, Non-Binary and believe that we should all be striving for equity and justice within our lives and respective brands and organizations.7. I know and trust heart-led actions over any KPI's or ROI's shown to me in a marketing deck.8. I believe that extraction is not the way to build long-term, impactful and lasting relationships - and encourage real talk with all of my relationships.9. I keep whiskey at my desk for the rough days, and am always happy to share.
