I completed this internship during the summer between my junior and senior year. I was assigned to the Inventory Control and Quality Assurance department at an Amazon fulfillment center in Columbia, SC. In this role I created daily shift plans for over 200 associates that ensured we would meet both short and long-term goals. I also provided one on one coaching and feedback to associates that fell below productivity standards and worked with them to get back on track. Throughout the summer, I completed a research project that tested a new way of organizing products on shelves. I owned the project from initial implementation through tracking and analyzing the final results in Excel. I presented a white paper with the final results to top-level management, and my process was eventually implemented across the fulfillment center, saving the firm thousands of dollars annually.

This internship fell between my sophomore and junior year of college. In this role I completed multiple ad hoc projects for the Treasury Department at the Saint Louis Fed. Projects required Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word as well as the ability to communicate in verbal and written forms. I also helped plan a team building event for the 40-person department. The internship concluded with an intern competition requiring teams of 4-5 interns to address a bank-wide issue. My team took first place in this competition.

Over my J-term in my freshman year of college, I found an opportunity to get exposure to business and marketing at MidAmerican Financial. During this internship, I learned a lot about marketing and professional communication. I designed and updated training, marketing, and sales materials for financial advisors. I also planned and arranged marketing seminars for key employees at the company.
