I maintained the Administrative section of a Marine training company. I supervised a team of 3 admin clerks and reported to the chief of the administration section. Being a small admin section in a company of over 200 Marines I was responsible for managing the 3 clerks by prioritizing the work load and assigning them daily tasks. I thoroughly checked their work for accuracy, have corrections made if needed before routing to company Commanding Officer, Company First Sergeant or the Admin Chief. Along with supervising my subordinates I also completed much of the work load to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. Customer service was a large part of our role as a section. Much of the work that I did included; preparing and reviewing correspondence, sorting mail as well as properly distributing it, and taking care of all administrative needs of the Marines. I typed military orders for Marines leaving the company and coordinated with a travel representative to book flights if needed. I would audit Marine's personal, emergency, and training information for accuracy then make corrections if needed. I completed necessary paperwork for Marines and routed it to our headquarters for system reporting. All paperwork was tracked and filed once reported. I completed disciplinary forms and administrative separation paperwork. I created numerous personnel and training rosters. I answered phones with a multi-lined telephone and answered any questions for the caller or transferred them to appropriate person, if needed I would take messages and relay them to the intended recipient. I would ensure that Marines who came to the counter were greeted and taken care of by answering their questions or have the correct paperwork filled out for them. I also completed travel claims for Marines new to the company. I filled out the needed forms and routed them to the disbursing office and once paid to the Marines I audited the claims to ensure that the Marines were correctly paid.
