Collections Manager
Current• Oversees the organization, development, and implementation of collections care and management for all stored and displayed artifacts.• Oversees collections care and management as it pertains to storage facilities, permanent collections, special exhibitions, research, education, and outreach, scholarly publications, computerization, and traveling exhibitions.• Responsible for large-scale collections storage improvement projects, including the relocation of 5,000+ objects from the WRHS Decorative Arts Collection, and the relocation of 1,000+ objects tangential to the WRHS Costume and Textile Collection.• Involved with the budgeting, funds acquisition, and long-range planning for collections management.• Works with the Registrar to maintain any forms related to conservation, movement, and care of the museum collection. • Supervises the photography of museum objects.• Monitors temperature and humidity throughout museum galleries and storage locations.• Ensures that proper procedures regarding the handling and movement of collections objects are upheld.• Assists with all aspects of exhibit installation, including: writing, proofreading, and producing label copy; painting and physical preparation of galleries; and installation of objects.• Prior to hiring of Registrar in fall of 2023, also responsible for all forms related to the acquisition, loan, deaccession, transfer, and movement of the museum collection.
