She was named in ENR Top 20 under 40, West Coast, in 2017. She is Layton Construction’s youngest Vice President and first female VP.In less than one year in the Bay Area, Whitney Walter was recognized in Silicon Valley's Business Journal list of Most Influential Women of 2016.In 2016, Whitney co-led the acquisition of Fernandes & Sons, working to retain employees, analyze project costs, understand technical capabilities and the firm’s accomplishments and risks while sustaining and growing our client base. She is the executive lead for Layton’s growth in the Bay Area through business integration strategies of both firms. She expertly manages relationships with key clients and industry associates across the nation, earning a reputation in healthcare from coast to coast. She also mentors employees within Layton Construction, as well as industry peers across the country. She presently advises mentees ranging from students to senior project managers and business developers.She has been invited to participate on the Vanderbilt Design & Construction Board for the last 16 years and in 2019 was honored with the role as Program Chair. First in the history of Vanderbilt Symposium to have female Program Chairs. This small and select group of board members leads an initiative to shed light on best practices, industry trends, LEAN principles and sustainability in the design and construction industry. They pull together a day and a half of the brightest leaders to share and enlighten our AEC/Owner community to do better in our perspective roles.In 2021, Whitney Walter and Ashley Hill led, developed, implemented and deployed Layton's first ever Employee Resource Group, WiN Network.Whitney has recently relocated to Nashville, TN where she resides with her family, but continues to pursue and cultivate projects in new regions with new clients while assisting efforts within the STOBG Family of companies in Florida, Texas and beyond.
