About Martin Hynie (He/Him)
I have been involved in building software for a few decades now. Most recently, I have been dedicated to helping organizations implement Explainable AI (XAI) strategies and tooling for sustainable governance over emergent challenges. It’s a really fun time to be in tech :)Over the years, my focus has continuously pivoted between a deep technology focus and the interactions and relationships within organizations. My most educational experiences have come from working within research teams, providing external consulting, delivering coaching, and quite a few years in different engineering leadership roles.I am however constantly seeking to uncover the tremendous opportunities that exist within and across codependent organizations. I am fascinated with the complexity that exists in large organizations, and how culture continuously adapts with each new nudge at any level. Throughout my path of learning, I have learned to believe that group effectiveness is best achieved in any organization through trust, the mutual learning, alignment of values, shared humility and balanced empathy across departments. How you do this... that really depends.Ideas, schools of learning, principles and sources of inspiration include:- Complexity Theory and Cynefin- Agile Principles- Prompt Engineering - Context Driven Testing- Sustainable Design- Liminal Thinking- Pragmatic MarketingEverybody sells, everybody builds, everybody tests, everybody supports... but not always directly. Specialists provide expertise, often socially, and individuals take the lead when it is their time.Understand that your buyers, your problem owners and your users are usually not the same person (but they might be). Know how they differ (and vary), and how they each measure success. Understand how each of them defines value, opportunity and risk.When you do build something new and great, be proud and take the time to rejoice as a team. BUT... "Build it like you got it wrong"!You are smart, creative and inspired. Technology guaranties that you will find a better way very soon. Plan for that now.
