About me... I have worked in Employment Services since 1998. Prior to working in the Employment Services field I worked in Customer Services, Food Services, Forestry, Property Management, Light Construction, Excavation and was self-employed for a time in Food Services. I was on disability for 7 years before returning to the work force in 2000 full time in the Employment Services field. I completed the Social Services Diploma and the Career Development Practitioner Certification in 2000 and 2001 with the University of the Fraser Valley and in 2017 and 2019 I completed the Advanced Career Development Practitioner certification and the Essential Skill program with Douglas College. I have also been certified in Life skills Coaching and Job Club Facilitation. My employment in this field has included both Federal and Provincial contracts including ASETS/ISETP agreements. I was fortunate to work with the same company for 12 continuous years providing Case Management for employment services in a Team Leadership role from 2000-2013. Having worked through the devolution of services from federal contract agreements to provincial contract agreements I was involved with the devolution and restructuring of services and lead my team through this time in 2011. As a result I have experience with CIV, ICM and ARMS database programs. I am very active with local volunteer groups. Currently I sit as a board member, or as an executive member with the Mountain Institution Community Advisory Committee and the Focus Disability Network Society. I am interested in any activity that promotes community capacity building. I presently have the pleasure of working with a great team here at Seabird Island Employment Services / (SASET) as a Career Development Practitioner http://www.seabirdisland.ca/ . I enjoy front line work and have a genuine passion for work in the employment services field.
