I was a program assistant with Feed Nova Scotia's Christmas Registry program, which provided support to more than 9000 people in the 2022 season. My responsibilities included:- Managing, organizing, and inputting client registration via phone, email, mail, and online forms. - Data entry tasks using Airtable, Link2Feed, and Microsoft suite programs.- Using an empathic communication approach with clients while enforcing program guidelines.

My role as a navigator was to talk with clients from across Nova scotia, who were in need of emergency food support. Placing delivery orders to get clients food, while listening to their stories, and attempting to connect them with resources in their community. My daily tasks included:- Receiving calls from food insecure clients and maintaining an empathetic approach, while taking notes and finding local resources that may be able to offer them support as well. - Maintaining client files, electronically while following privacy laws and ensuring data is up-to-date and accurate. - Networking between clients and organizations in their community when needed.- Inputting delivery details, and printing shipping labels using shipping companies' specific computer.

As chair of the 2021 Halifax Defeat Depression campaign, I oversaw our team of 10 volunteers while we worked together to reach fundraising goals and spread awareness on the topic of mental health in our community. Together our team raised $10,000 for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada and our community partner Healthy Minds Cooperative. My role included:- Organizing and leading team meetings, ensuring tasks were distributed/completed, and goals were met.- Planning, and creating content/posts for social media platforms.- Hosting online events, and fundraisers in partnership with community members. We hosted paint nights, a virtual auction, virtual yoga, and other events.
