I am currently responsible for leading and optimizing the intersection of multiple functional units across a ~50 person division distributed over 3 UC Berkeley Extension campuses (Berkeley, San Francisco, and Belmont CA), 4 facilities, 70 classrooms and roughly 45,000 annual online and ground enrollments: • Facilities • Online Instructional Design • Academic Technologies Support Services • Digital Media Production and Event Management • Business Analysis and Project Management • Classroom Technology Support Services • Application Development and Enterprise Systems • IT Service Desk OperationsMy objective is to drive a strategic vision that enables and aligns Extension’s mission; creating tools and services that elevate the student experience; enabling staff while lowering the cost of delivering outstanding student services, leveraging user-centric design thinking to administrative and academic spaces, and designing instructional and workforce resiliency into all programming and administrative development.Highlights: • Improved administrative facility/space utilization with direct positive impact of > $2M/year  • Data-driven and evidence-based classroom optimizations from revenue per usable sq. ft. analysis, academic portfolio analysis, and student feedback; netted 60 additional seats (+6.5%); improved utilization rates (+30%) of underperforming, dedicated specialty spaces by converting them into multipurpose classrooms; introduced dual-boot computer classrooms to relieve scheduling strain and improved student/instructor/presentation lines of sight • Championed the creation of a consolidated data mart from distributed system data, worked closely with marketing and academics to develop new multidimensional dashboards to inform decisions; linking enrollments and revenue to program portfolios and space utilization and student outcomes • Took additional responsibilities, developing teams and capabilities including a new Online Instructional Design team

Direct a distributed ~20 person IT team in a highly academic environment, leading the curation and execution of a portfolio of high-impact projects and services, as well as data-driven continual improvement.  Highlights: • Lead a strategic shift that began with an investment in business analysis and resulted in a profound reduction of dated, brittle, and onerous custom-coded and home grown development • Reduced a portfolio of > 120 custom, home-grown enterprise and departmental supportive applications to roughly 10 • Developed an ecosystem of best-in-class, integrated platforms and services, from SIS to LMS to Evaluations and CMS • Developed an organizational capability that welcomes new business, innovation, and is able to refresh services with agility  • Took on multiple new responsibilities and developed teams and capabilities including Facilities, Scheduling, Proctoring, Academic Technologies and Center support staff • Improved quality and reduced operational and administrative overhead across the division by aligning resources, eliminating unintentional redundancies and developing skills to address gaps • Empowered academic administrators with rich student evaluation data to inform program development

Report to and work closely with the CIO as a member of Kellogg’s Senior IT Leadership team and contribute to discussions of Kellogg IT policies, procedures, and priorities, and project portfolios. Responsible for the planning and development of Kellogg’s external and internal IT Infrastructure resources, systems, platforms and solutions. This infrastructure supports business demands that range from enterprise and administrative applications, departmental supportive business processes, and data warehousing, to research computing, client architectures and educational technologies serving three principle campuses (Evanston IL, Chicago IL. and Miami FL) with 2 geo-dispersed datacenter facilities.

Lead team of highly technical systems administrators spanning 2 data centers serving 3 principle locations (Chicago, Evanston, IL., and Miami) across disciplines including VMware vSphere virtual infrastructure, VMware View virtual desktop infrastructure, blades, storage, x86 systems, power, cooling, network, and other appliances. Lead team operations, process improvement, project, change and incident management. Work closely with the Director of IT Operations to design and deliver manageable and scalable core infrastructure resources to satisfy dynamic and demanding IT/Business needs. Datacenter infrastructure and system designs include particular attention to Business Continuity, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery. 

 Develop and maintain a technical service catalog and portfolio that reflects and supports the IT Strategic Plan while hiring and developing junior staff accordingly.

As a Senior System Administrator, provided technical and project leadership by managing multiple in-flight projects and teams. Introduced many operational and process improvements. Developed a mature process for managing core infrastructure resources as part of a Datacenter Lifecycle Management that integrates Facility Management, Hardware and Software Lifecycle Management, Capacity Management, and Vendor Management; defined, proposed and implemented tiered OLAs; defined system architecture standards to satisfy tiered OLAs; developed disaster recovery roadmap; created and executed 5 year virtualization plan.

As a system administrator, identified team and operational opportunities for improvements, proposed projects, and successfully implemented complex solutions such as Kellogg's first highly available clustered Virtual Infrastructure (VMware ESX 2.5, 30). Redesigned and implemented Microsoft Clustering Services/Failover Clustering for enterprise applications, championed proactive and actionable monitoring/alerting with Microsoft's Operations Manager, and introduced the team to the use of project plans to inform tasks and capture decisions.
