My current role is designing and building spacecraft simulators using C++ / Python with occasional bash scripting. This involves collaborating with customers on simulator requirements and design, implementing desired functionality, fixing bugs, etc. I am currently working on a simulator for the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) of NASA’s Lunar Gateway. In previous roles at Maxar, I did back-end web development using Python / Go.• Extended legacy processor virtualization stack using Linux KVM to be a generic standalone product, enabling other groups to integrate Flight Software with their own simulation systems for testing while avoiding the need for dedicated hardware• Enabled checkpointing of the entire simulator using third party checkpointing libraries such as BLCR (Berkeley Lab Checkpoint/Restart), as well as in-house solutions to enable checkpointing of Linux kernel-space processes; this enabled rapid testing and validation of the spacecraft and procedures, resulting in 3x faster procedure validation• Ported real time flight software to run on standard Linux distributions to enable execution of software designed for custom hardware that would have required too much effort to make compatible with existing processor virtualization stack• Designed and oversaw implementation of distributed simulation interfaces to enable running large scale simulations in conjunction with NASA’s Lunar Gateway simulators• Expanded functionality of in-house RPC-like service and developed internal Python / C++ libraries to facilitate easy integration of external software with our simulator Show less
